Shredder of the Month

February 2019: Amanda Baker, Indy Shredder

February 1, 2019

There’s something about burning 700 calories in an hour that just makes perfect sense.

As a mother of 4 rambunctious boys, I’ve spent the last 10 years of my life having babies and catering to the needs of others. It’s a full-time job, and the stress has taken a toll. Being such a busy mom and community volunteer meant that I put my health and personal wellbeing on the back burner. Before I found Shred415, I was in a slump—one that lasted a very long time. I wasn’t happy with myself, and I felt strongly that something had to change, because this wasn’t the person I wanted to be. I knew I would have to take a leap, but I was scared because I hadn’t been physically active in years.

I needed some encouragement.

My best friend Eliza dragged me to my first Shred415 class despite the fact that I thought it was going to kill me. Did I mention I have asthma? (Don’t worry, I have a rescue inhaler and I made the staff aware of my condition—they were so friendly and helpful!) Spoiler alert: the first class didn’t kill me, and it was the strangest thing—I left class feeling refreshed. I was hooked from day one!

There’s something about burning 700 calories in an hour that just makes perfect sense. I can devote an hour to myself, improve my health, and leave with great confidence and strength to get me through the rest of my “mom” day. And the ShredKids Lounge is such an added bonus! Mrs. Jessica is so amazing with my boys and they love her so much. For them to be happy during my “me” time is priceless.

I can truly say that I’m now living my best life. The slump is over! Shred415 has changed my life and I can’t imagine my life without it.
