The last time I weighed myself, I was beyond excited to see that I have lost 80 lbs. I am healthier and happier now than I have ever been in my life, and I want to keep moving forward.
This time last year, I was overweight, always tired, and uncomfortable. I was negative, crabby, quick-tempered, and I decided it needed to change. This isn’t the first time I made this decision, but this time, it was going to be different. No more excuses (and I had about 1,000 of them), no more “I’m tired,” “I’m too busy,” “I don’t feel good,” or the worst one, “I fell off the wagon so guess I’m done now.” This time I was determined. I wanted a lifestyle change—not a quick fix—and I knew it was going to be hard.
I wanted my life back.
In August, I saw a flyer promoting a free workout in a park with the promise of a beer garden after the session. Perfect! This was my first introduction to Margaux and Shred415. Margaux was extremely passionate and believed SO much in this brand that she quit her job and moved her family from Chicago to Milwaukee to open a location here. She said it brought her things money couldn’t buy, like happiness, confidence, joy, and pride. It made her believe in herself. Margaux assured me that Shred415 was “more than a workout.”
Margaux’s story intrigued me, and I knew I had to check this place out. Somehow I made it through that first outdoor workout. I was challenged more in my first Shred415 experience than I had been the past almost 7 months. I loved the challenge, so I went back the next day. Margaux explained how the format of the workout would change when she eventually opened her doors. Four 15-minute intervals, including two on a treadmill. But I don’t run. I can’t run. Margaux assured me I could walk or jog, so I blindly signed up for a pre-opening membership. That’s when I became an Original Shredder. That’s when everything changed for me.
Shred415 is what I had been looking for all along. At Shred415, I don’t have to guess what I need to do; I just need to show up and put in the work for one hour. It’s effective and efficient, and I could not ask for anything more. The workouts are hard and fast, the music is LOUD, the lights are low, and every class is different. Each instructor wants you to do your best; they encourage you, cheer for you, and push you, and so do the other members.
Week after week, I felt myself improving. I started increasing my speeds and hitting new fast paces. I even started running on the treadmills.
The last time I weighed myself, I was beyond excited to see that I have lost 80 lbs. I’m done with scales now, though. I have shifted my mindset off the weight loss and towards becoming a stronger and better version of myself. I am healthier and happier now than I have ever been in my life, and I want to keep moving forward. My goals are to increase my running speeds, lift heavier weights, and improve my form.
Thanks to Shred415, I have met some amazing people and formed lasting friendships. I feel like part of a community. Sometimes I go into Shred tired or maybe I had a bad day, and I come out feeling like a better person. I call it my therapy. Margaux was right, and I credit her with changing my life. Shred415 is definitely “more than a workout.”
