I’m challenged and humbled every class, and have a newfound respect for what my body (and mind) can accomplish.
In July 2014, I gave birth to my third child and, following his delivery, had complications that nearly killed me. I had several blood transfusions, an emergency surgery, and at one point was in crucial condition. It was a traumatic and sobering experience that left me with emotional and physical hurdles to overcome.
Having three children under 3.5 years old while also running my own business meant there was little time for me to spend on me. As a result, I was not in great shape physically and that started to take its toll… until I found Shred415.
Last August, and almost one year to the date of my son’s birth, I tried my first class. It was the hardest workout I’ve ever done and I struggled just to finish. I walked away thinking I was one and done, but then I realized how good it felt just to complete the 60-minute class, so the next week I went back for more. In the last year, I’ve attended class regularly three times a week.
Physically, I’m stronger. I’m down 20 pounds from my pre-delivery weight and 47 pounds from my post-delivery weight. In fact, I’ve actually reached my wedding weight from nearly 10 years ago. I sometimes can’t believe the transformation. Emotionally though, I’ve reaped even greater benefits. I’m challenged and humbled every class, and have a newfound respect for what my body (and mind) can accomplish.
Every time I hear Kim, Jenny, Tracy, Mark, or Jordan say, “It’s just one minute of your life,” I push myself a little harder and feel a lot stronger. As cheesy as it sounds, I leave it all out on the treadmill and I know I’m a better mom for it.
