Once the big day finally arrived, I was down 30 pounds and seven inches, and I was ready for the best day of my life!
In January 2016, I was engaged to be married at the heaviest I had ever been in my life. A family vacation during which my fiancé, my sister, and I climbed 2,530 ft to the top of the Gros Peton in St. Lucia opened my eyes to how unhealthy I really was. Although we made it to the top, the climb was a real struggle for me. I had to make frequent stops and I was out of breath for the duration of the climb. I was headed to the alter, but the journey there was not going to be easy.
My friend Kate regularly attends Shred415, and she encouraged me to take my first class. That class was a shock to the system, and I even felt a little sick afterward, but I knew it would get easier if I could commit to attending twice per week. I developed a schedule with Kate based upon the instructors who motivated me the most, and sure enough, everything changed from there.
Over the past year, I’ve seen improvements in my ending warmup pace, the weights that I grab for class, and my recovery time after class. My body has changed, and I am so much stronger. While I originally struggled with the commitment of two classes per week, as the weeks progressed, I started looking forward to attending classes! The community at the studio is so welcoming and fun that I couldn’t wait to see the ladies at the desk and my friends that I had recruited along the way.
My two class per week commitment quickly escalated to four then to five classes per week during the lead-up to my wedding. Once the big day finally arrived, I was down 30 pounds and seven inches, and I was ready for the best day of my life!
I’m so happy I found Shred415 to help me on this fitness journey—a journey that was originally planned for my wedding, but a journey that has only just begun.
