If someone told me last year that I would be setting my alarm to make a 5:00 AM class that involved running on a treadmill, I never would have believed them.
In January 2018 I decided to take a new approach to getting fit. My twins were turning 3 and my oldest was 5. I couldn’t blame my weight on my pregnancies anymore. I started working with a dietician who suggested I incorporate strength training into my workout. But as a full-time working mom who often puts in 50+ hours a week, I needed something efficient that combined cardio + strength. And, I had to be able do it before getting the kids ready in the morning.
I decided to give Shred415 a try. Before long I was going 3 to 4 times a week. The 5:00 AM express class became my go-to workout. By May I had lost 30 pounds and gained a ton of definition in my arms, back, and abs. The physical results are only part of my success. The mental conditioning at Shred415 has helped me push not only my physical abilities but also helped me be a better consultant, mom, and wife.
Shred415 has taught me to:
Thrive in the uncomfortable. I’ve learned to embrace the uncomfortable and use all of my resources to push through those moments – the music, my breathing, activating other muscles, using the energy from the trainer, and others in the class.
It’s okay to fail as long as I fail forward. Some of what the instructors ask you to do can seem impossible. Many times what I thought was impossible is actually possible. It’s not a failure if I’ve still pushed beyond my boundaries.
Be constantly curious about my potential. Whether they are asking me to add to my speed or pick up heavier weights – the instructors are helping me realize I haven’t yet reached my potential. While I started coming to Shred415 to get in better shape – what keeps me coming back is the added mental workout and encouragement from the Shred415 family!
