This past summer, on the day Chicago studios reopened, I was in class at Lincoln Park and Lyndsey said, “Look in the mirror and tell yourself you can do this” – and guess what, that’s exactly what I did!
I have been a part of the Shred community for six years and from my very first class, I was hooked. I became a yearly member and was at Shred415 religiously three days a week. Then Covid-19 hit and like so many others, I let bad habits and excuses take over. Pounds packed on and I felt everything was out of my control. That all changed on June 26th, 2020, when the Chicago studios reopened. I walked back into Shred415 Lincoln Park out of shape and overweight, that class was the wake-up call I needed.
I took what Lyndsey said at the end of that first class back home with me that day… and lived it. With the uncertainty of everything during quarantine, I made up my mind to simply be better. I downloaded an app to track my food and committed to Shredding every single day. My husband and I chose nightly three-mile walks over wine, planned meals and completely changed the way we lived.
During this time, we were still in quarantine and weren’t seeing many people. My family at Shred was my “home team” – through every pound I lost, they were there encouraging me. They stopped me after class to encourage me not only in my weight loss, but on my fitness journey. I needed their encouragement to keep going and through every step of the way, they gave me just that. I went from an ending warmup pace of 5.0 to a 6.5 on the treadmills. A push during a drill used to be 7.0, now some days it’s 11.5. I am stronger, faster and leaner than I have ever been in my life. I am happier, sleeping better and take the stress of these crazy days out on that treadmill every day. I come home a better wife and mom because of it.
It all began with believing my instructor and simply looking in the mirror telling myself, Sara, you got this! Thank you, Lyndsey, and everyone at Shred415 Lincoln Park -my #Shredfam has made me stronger than ever.
