I am getting married this month, and I’ve lost a total of 40 lbs by Shredding to the Wedding!
In January of 2014, I gave birth to twin boys. As to be expected, raising twin boys took nearly all my attention, and unfortunately, my health took a backseat. When I reached previously unseen numbers on the scale, I knew it was time to make a change. I worked out, monitored my diet, and I even hired a trainer, but the weight never stayed off. I was so depressed. I avoided mirrors and pictures at all costs—the person reflected was simply not me.
It goes without saying that Shred415 came into my life at a much-needed time. A dear friend Noemi encouraged me to try it, and with her support, I attended my first class in July 2017.
I started off slow, mostly walking through class, and I don’t remember ever going above 5.5 miles per hour during that day. I was never much of a runner, but I did love the floor workouts. I felt like I could stick with it, and so I started taking class regularly at the Wicker Park location. The instructors were direct, but encouraging, and I loved hitting new speeds on the treadmill with each additional visit. I could see changes each time I walked into the studio: new speeds, heavier weights, better form, etc. With hard work and encouragement from the Shred415 staff, I’ve managed to hit speeds I never thought possible (9.0 mph!)—and I look forward to beating that pace with every session. It’s become addicting!
I am getting married this month, and I’ve lost a total of 40 lbs by Shredding to the Wedding! But it’s not just about the numbers on the scale—Shred415 has helped me regain my confidence as I prepare for the big day! I used to avoid pictures and mirrors, but that simply will no longer be the case on my wedding day.
In addition to regaining my confidence, I’ve learned that putting work into myself is not selfish, but necessary. I cannot give my kids the best version of myself if I am unhappy. In only one year, Shred415 has changed my life dramatically, and now I cannot imagine going without it. Thank you so much to the Shred415 staff, the instructors (especially Julie, Mark, Derick, Meghan, and Jule), and my friend Noemi who encouraged me every step of the way on this incredible journey!
