On Sept 25, 2018, I gave birth to my second child. Initially the pounds melted off, but I noticed a plateau at more than 30 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight! Well, once I got the green light to exercise from the doctor at 6 weeks out, I immediately returned to my happy place: Shred415 South Loop. I started back again by walking on the treadmills. Makiah taught one of those first classes and I’ll never forget her words during a 30 second push: “You’re stronger than you think you are!” Something resonated and I was brought to tears during class because I felt like I was standing at the base of a mountain trying to get to the peak, but also I knew that she was right.
Not going to lie – it was a tough climb!
Some mornings I was exhausted from barely sleeping the night before. Some days were freezing cold. There were snowstorms and holidays, but I just kept coming back. Walking became jogging, and eventually jogging became running. Every class was a test in the beginning and a testimony at the end. What was once a struggle, now feels so good!
The ladies in the Kids Lounge are wonderful and having that support made it tremendously easy for me to be consistent! I am now consistently Shredding 3-4 days a week, and I’m so grateful to Shred415 for a program that works and a community that encourages, uplifts, and inspires. Thank you Makiah, thank you Melissa, thank you Brandon, thank you Cara and all the awesome instructors for pushing and giving your best. Maternity leave is now over and I’m back to work with confidence and wearing my old clothes again!!! I truly love Shred415.
