Before I moved to Miami in February of 2018, I used to run and workout in Puerto Rico. After Hurricane Maria, my wife and I decided to move. When I moved to Miami, I was so focused on work and being a Dad that I started to lose focus on myself. Working long hours and not eating right caught up to me and I put on weight and got to 220 pounds. I definitely did not feel good about myself and lost my motivation. A few months after we had our second son in June of 2019, my wife saw an ad on Facebook that a Shred415 was opening close to where we live. At first I didn’t pay any attention, but my wife said we should get healthier for the kids, so I agreed to check it out.
I remember my first class in November 2019 – I had no idea what to expect or if I would be able to keep up with the workout. Since day one all the instructors were super helpful and friendly, not like at other gyms where you feel judged when you enter the door. After the first workout, which was super hard, I felt tired but great at the same time. I really enjoyed the dynamics of it being in a class setting, around other people and being told what to do. I certainly stepped out of my comfort zone and every class I noticed I was improving both physically and mentally. My goal when starting was to stay committed and not quit. Then I starting setting goals, drop down to 185-180 pounds and working towards being more toned.
After a few months at Shred415, I did not only lose the weight I had gained but I also gained the flexibility and energy I had lost after turning 40. My long term goal right now is to stay committed to this healthier lifestyle and stay active. Now I am in the best shape of my life, and full of energy because Shred415 changed my life for the better!
